What you think

Many thanks to everyone who has expressed their thoughts on VFR Terrain. The response has been overwhelming and it is deeply encouraging to know that the work which went into creating it has been so much appreciated.

What you've said about VFR Terrain

VFR Terrain popped thro' by letter box yesterday morning. The installation went smoothly, and I think all is well. I took off from Liverpool and headed for North Wales. Wow! I've never seen such a difference with any addon before, the Welsh Mountains were breathtaking. This is surely, "As good as it gets"! - JimH, 11 Aug 2004 - Visual Flight forum.

"omg this is so good" - CA, 24 Apr 2004

"Can I just say ***** ******!, absolutely brilliant" - SMcC, 24 Apr 2004

"This is yet another big step forward for VFR scenery users and non VFR users alike and I would not hesitate to recommend it to any simmer who flies the UK" - AF, 23 Apr 2004

"Congratulations on the release of your new product which is truly a milestone in scenery design for the FS world. This really is a truly remarkable product - I wish you could see the effect with my Wideview and cockpit system, as it has really jumped the order of several magnitudes in realism." - RG, 20 Apr 2004

"A big thank you for an unbelievable achievement! I read all the blurb leading up to the release of the scenery but nothing prepared me for the transformation I saw when the sim's opening situation over Snowdon fired up - absolutely stunning.

"The combination of VFR Photographic Scenery and VFR Terrain definitely ranks as the biggest advance in any sim I have tried and words alone just can't describe the magnitude of improvement to the FS scenery.

"The installation is something special too - my hat off to the boffin who worked out all the different permutations as the install routine went perfectly. The installation booklet is a must-read though before diving in headfirst, as I did, and I had to scratch my head a bit initially as I have a much modified installation of both FS2004 and 2002.

"Thanks again and congratulations for a job superbly done." - RS, 22 Apr 2004

"Everything looks b***y wonderful, and anyone flying Cornwall should set vis to 15km and go find Lundy, it looks SO REAL coming out of the haze" - Real world pilot, 20 Apr 2004

"Took off from Carlisle RWY10 a nice bank to the right, put it into Auto Pilot and full screen and watched, mouth open, at the 1000% increase in the terrain. Bl**dy Well Done. Magnificent work.

"When the VFR Central Section kicked in, I nearly fell out of my seat... Thank You, Thank You, now it REALLY is as real as it gets.

"Hogs Back in Surrey looks great by the way, in fact the whole SE has become interesting again" - Real world pilot, 19 Apr 2004

"We who have been Beta-testing have been bursting to tell you 'Go out and buy it!'

"With the new VFR Terrain the cuttings alongside major roads are more pronounced and the river valleys are so good that you can easily follow (provided you fly up the right tributary!)" - Beta tester, 18 Apr 2004

"Suffice to say that SRTM mesh died today. It was good while it lasted. May it rest in peace." - Beta tester, 16 Apr 2004

"Having just flown from Sheffield towards Hawarden again. The hills are brilliant now and you can clearly see why fields stop over valleys as the slope increases. It's this sort of visual assimilation that is making the thing so darned real" - Beta tester, 14 Apr 2004

"Very impressive indeed well done. It is the second best addon for fs yet, (VFR Photographic Scenery being the first best)" - Beta tester 5 Apr 2004

"To say I'm impressed would be putting it mildly. I had hoped for an improvement to the cliffs, what you have done is incredible, the Yorkshire coast now looks real" - Beta tester, 4 Apr 2004

"First of all - absolutely stunning! This mesh really brings the VFR scenery to life, and places I know very well appear completely different and very "3D". - Beta tester, 3 Apr 2004

"The coastline is very good indeed (and that's without the VFR replacement textures as yet). Not a single "waterfall" effect to report so far" - Beta tester, 3 Apr 2004

"**** ****!.... I took off from Blackpool, and slewed to Snowdon.... I was expecting to see an improvment of a factor of 2 or 4. But bl**dy h*ll, it looks superb.... Also, we have a very particular hill view from our house. Said hill never showed before, other than in the textures. Now, it looks just right..... Wow" - Beta tester - 3 Apr 2004

"What is really great to see is the lakes accurately represented, i.e. FLAT!" - Beta tester, 3 Apr 2004

"First look around and I am bl**dy impressed!! Even around here in a fairly flat landscape, most of the subtle undulations are there and exactly right too" - Beta tester, 3 Apr 2004

"Had a look at the coast and N Wales WOW! River valleys with rivers at the bottom, and road and rail cuttings too - that line up with the roads and railway lines!" - Beta tester, 3 Apr 2004

""WOW" the overall effect is quite stunning, and just brings our hobby to another higher level, and for those whom have wanted water to land on there's an abundence of sites, the only nit-pick I have is water has covered a small number of bmp's bridges, but I'm sure someone  with the knowledge will sort that out" - Beta tester, 20 Mar 2004

"Coast lines are apparently true and accurate, no one seems to have mentioned the cliffs of Dover, strange because they are a very good example of what accuracy means" - Beta tester, 20 Mar 2004

"On behalf of the sim world thank you very much" - Beta tester, 20 Mar 2004

"I flew up from Swansea along the welsh coast north to Llanbedr. As I approached the boundary with the DTM test area, everything just sprang into amazing detail. The Barmouth estuary is quite stunning and the contour following of the VFR photo scenery is practically perfect" - Beta tester, 19 Mar 2004

"I switched form my trusty Realair 172 to the Cessna Caravan Amphibian and proceeded to try to land on every one of 'em! Brilliant, the detail is astonishing. High up on one lake in Snowdonia, as I took off and cleared the ridge ahead, I could see the whole of Angelsey before me. It was so life like, I actually got a bout of vertigo as the ground suddenly fell away, I kid you not"

"VFR Photographic Scenery has always looked fantastic but, with the new VFR Terrain test area, it "comes alive" in so many ways. To coin a phrase that most of think is over hyped "as real as it gets", well I think this is damned close!" - Beta tester, 19 Mar 2004
